Profiles
So what are the people like here?
At university, as you would expect there are some interesting people to meet, and at a place like this that has one of the biggest exchange programmes in Japan, there’s quite a mix of some intriguing people.
Here’s some of the people I’ve met.
First up is an American student who I think looks like a black haired version of Hayden Christensen.
None of the boys I’ve seen here are as beautiful as he is. For example the jaw-line, the smile, the crazily chiselled cheek bones …And for some reason none of the boys are more obnoxious…
He’s not vain or particularly arrogant but kills you with kindness and compliments and it makes. Me. Sick. Because it’s so fake and such a put on, like he gets his chat up lines and etiquette from Disney movies. Maybe 7 times in one night he’ll tell me how beautiful I am, and then go and do the same to another girl. If I was any other girl I would probably fall for his put on but I’ve seen it too many times. Too bad the Chinese and Japanese girls here havn’t.
I shall call him Hayden.
I met Hayden at the only bar here in Tsukuba and found out he’s an American student from Dakota. I was in shock of his extreme beauty, but it soon became apparent that he was just chasing girls and I was a new face so therefore I was allowed his attention for that night, but even then just talking to him was cringeworthy because of how much he tried flatter me. It was just not human!
One of the more admirable guys that I’ve met here I shall call Shuuji. I think he’s admirable simply because he taught himself English, isn’t afraid to speak it and is really polite and genuine which makes him stand out a lot. Incidentally Shuuji is deaf in one ear. When I asked him exactly when he lost his hearing he said, “Oh…about 1 week ago?”
1 week ago? Are you crazy? Go to the hospital already! He must have a high threshold for pain or just be REALLY easy-going if he can just deal with it. Gotta love Shuuji.
Another student who I see from time to time is a local Japanese student who I’ll call Tanaka.
Tanaka stands out because he’s really interested in learning English so therefore makes an effort to hangout with the international students even though he doesn’t understand fully what we’re talking about. Most of the time it’s just general drunken randomness from the Americans and two of the English boys, but he makes an effort to speak and learn the words that we use, so that will always stand out in my book. I just wish he wouldn’t come up behind me drunk as a prune and shout, “you’re FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.” Simply because he learned a new usage for the word “fuck” recently.
Which as you can imagine scares the hell out of me and has made me choke on my drink/drop whatever I’m holding several times. Joy.
Another guy who’s pretty interesting is a guy fromKorea, who’s hard as nails and is never seen without a cigarette in hand. Heck he probably showers with one! He’s served in the army and is extremely straight-faced and proper…Until he gets drunk at which point he just whores himself out to all the girls but never strikes lucky.
I call him Jin.
Jin is to be avoided at all costs when he’s drunk.
I’ve just realised that all the people I’m talking about are all guys. This is because for some reason most of the exchange students are mostly guys and they’re much easier to talk to and hang out with since they’re more easy going and I don’t have to be in their clique so Dixie and I are pretty much the only girls as of yet. Which makes for some pretty interesting stories, but you’ll have to wait for those!
Hayden sounds la lot like a teacher of mine. But instead of complimenting you too much he always interrupts students when they try to talk.
