Inexplicable Phenomena

Published by Advena at 1:43 am under Uncategorized

One day last week I was at university. It was a seeminly boring day. I hadn’t slept very much because of the workload and had to go in extra early to labs.

I finished earlier than expected and needed some help from the administration office. I got in the lift and walked to the back. It stopped at the 2nd floor and people just flowed in till we were all in each other’s personal space.

I stood there looking at my documents and trying not to yawn when a guy at the front of the lift shouts,

“ORGY”

This immediately wakes everyone up. They look at him and look away. I don’t think people really understood what he was on about because they just looked at him confused.

I on ther other hand found it hillarious. I was trying my hardest not to laugh but there’s something about a lift full of grim-looking Japanese people at 9:30 in the morning that just made it even funnier so I burst out laughing at him and couldnt stop. I tried to make it less obvious by looking down and letting my hair cover my face but people were already looking at me like I was insane.

Perhaps I am, but it was so funny.

The guy who said it looks at me and smiles. He does the “gun-point” at me and says “aaaaaaaaah She understands!!”

Luckily the lift was at my floor already so I quickly dashed outside. I walked down the corridor and waited for the lift to close, laughed a bit more to myself, composed myself, and entered the admin office to hand in some enrollment sheets and ask for their help on filling one of them out.

I came outside to see the same guy standing there infront of one of the lecturers. The lecturer seemed to want to get passed him but the guy had decided he wasnt allowed.

That was until he cocked his head to the side and said

“Lunchbox…Orgasm?”

Seriously wtf? Where did he learn all this?

I guess it’s another mystery of Japan which will never be solved.

I walked passed and silently laughed once I was passed him just incase he made me a part of what he was saying again.

When I got home in the evening I had dinner and put my headphones in to listen to music while I did my assignments for the next day.

I thought I heard banging on my door and looked through the looking hole to see a silhouette but I didn’t think it was for me so I continue to listen to my music.

I hear more banging and decide to open the door.

It was the Euroskanks, both of them.

The one that I live next to looked at her shoes and said, “Sorry, very sorry to disturb you but we need your help”

“Okay…” I reply

She shows me an envelope full of money and flicks through them. All 10,000 yen notes.

I hide the fact that I was surprised by the sheer amount of money and she continues, “You see this? We need to give this by 6pm”

I look at my watch, it’s already 5.56pm.

“OKay” I reply, “I’ll watch, where are we going?”

“Just to the third floor she replies”

I follow in my slippers and Pj’s up to the dimly lit 3rd floor corridor and they knock on one of the doors.

An unimpressed girl opens the door and they hand her the envelope full of 10,000 yen notes. The girl stands there with it in her hands and looks like she was expecting it. From what I gathered they had probably done something bad to her.

The EuroSkanks turn and walkto the corridor and I follow. The one who I live next to turns to me and says “What do you like to drink?” It’s the first time I’ve seen her smile.

I told her that she didn’t have to get me anything, but she smiles and says “I’ll bring you a bottle”

I go back to my room and look at my reflection in the mirror. Did that just happen?

I plug myself into my headphones again and carry on with my workand surfing the internet.

A couple of hours later there’s a knock at my door and I open it to find that it’s them again.

The one that i live next to passes me an extremely pretty bag and smiles at me. “I hope you like chocolates!” she says and hands me the bag.

I told her that she needn’t to give me anything but she insisted. She said the words, “You saved our souls” and then went back to her room. I shut the door and looked inside the bag.

There was a a beautifully wrapped box of chocolates which looked insanely expensive.

I unwrapped it and sat on my bed, shocked.

Inexpclicable Phenomena.

Never in a million years did I think she would buy me a box of chocolates.

I think you have a POWR of some kind.
Perhaps you really saved their lives, and now they owe you one…? If so, ask her to keep the music/noise down at night. She owes you, so claim it :)

    Wow.
    And, Wow.
I would have been laughing all day because of elevator guy.
That would have been completely surreal, an elevator full of Asian, not knowing what the e-guy said.

What was the deal with the E-S’s?
    What was the pay-off for?
I assume that you were the ‘witness’
    Intrigue at Tsukuba-U!

    Incredible!

I’m with Nik, since they owe you one, they should keep the music down.

Actually I’m really sorry I havnt written about that yet. It’s not particularly interesting but I went to the international students centre after a terrible night’s sleep and just cried. At first they wern’t going to help me but they really didn’t know what to do with a gaijin crying in their laps so they sorted it out for me.

That same night ES 1 and 2 both got drunk and ran up and down the corridors screaming “WAKE UP EVERYBODY” but it got better until one day I could hear that she was talking to her mum via skype or something.

I grabbed what courage I could come up with and plainly told her I didn’t want to fight with her but I really am disturbed by all this.

Since then it’s been alright. She even smiles at me form time to time! haha
